About the Business Information Technology Programme
This Business Information Technology degree gives you the skills you need for the practical application of computing for areas typically found in the IT industry. These include e-commerce, information systems and computer consultancy. The Business Information Technology degree incorporates computing and business-oriented modules.
This major focuses on how information technology is used to collect process and output information in organisations, and provides an in-depth knowledge of computer programming and design, and systems implementation and management.
You will gain an introduction to programming and design, systems implementation and IT management and will study topical and smart contents to assist with the implementation of information technology solutions that can help you to solve different types of business problems.
You will learn about the management of information in organisations by understanding systems concepts, communications and information technologies.
You will also develop a detailed understanding of the relationships between business organisations, information and technology and also how individuals and groups operate within an organisation.

Our programme provides you with an extensive and well tested grounding in information systems and businesses. You will examine business strategy case studies from blue chip companies and contribute in producing critical business decisions fit for implementation in organisations. You will develop client databases to suit business needs, either individually or in a team and will critically evaluate the justification and need for IT systems within these organisations. IT continues to drastically change the way we live and work. The BSc. in Business Information Technology makes you an expert in IT-based business innovation with the skills to devise new services and radically improve the way businesses work. However, IT is not a goal in itself. In this programme, you will acquire a keen insight into business processes and organisation, enabling you to apply IT to innovate and create added value.
This programme is designed to meet the demands of organisations seeking graduates who can critically analyse and understand how IT allows for effective decision making in the business world. You will be able to conceptualise and implement effective IT strategies for companies.
You could work for an IT end-user as a business operations analyst, IT manager, information architect, system tester, strategic consultant, IT manager or project manager taking part in various different projects. You can also aim for a career in research and development or continue your studies as a PhD student. You can also start a venture and become an entrepreneur. Your skills in IT, business, organising and innovation will give you a great head start!
